Institutional trading division Ripple Prime has launched traditional asset perpetual contracts by integrating with decentralized derivatives platform Trade.xyz, according to a report by Bloomberg. The move broadens Ripple Prime perpetuals beyond native digital assets, allowing institutional clients to trade non-crypto instruments within a unified margin system.

The development expands on the firm's prior infrastructure connectivity, which previously integrated Hyperliquid access to enable professional traders to combine onchain derivatives alongside broader balance-sheet exposures. By incorporating synthetic perpetual contracts tied to traditional asset classes, institutional users can manage macro hedging strategies directly through decentralized protocols.

Institutional demand for integrated derivatives platforms has grown as hedge funds and family offices seek capital efficiency across multi-asset portfolios. Cross-margining onchain derivatives with conventional instruments reduces collateral fragmentation, offering institutions better capital utilization during periods of heightened market volatility.

However, offering synthetic exposure to traditional equities, commodities, or foreign currencies via decentralized rails introduces unique regulatory considerations and oracle reliance risks.
